Janet Appleton is a cultural organizer, arts administrator, and multidisciplinary artist who is dedicated to creating supportive environments where artists can flourish. With a background in photography, Janet moved from Ireland to the Bay Area in 2016 to run the Hospitality House’s Community Art Program in San Francisco. In this position, she helped to provide opportunities and resources for emerging artists in the local community, inspiring them to create powerful works that engaged with pressing social issues.
Today, Janet is thrilled to serve as the Creative Services Coordinator with Local Color. Her commitment to empowering artists and promoting the arts as a vital social change force has grown stronger over time.
Janet holds a BA in Visual Art Practice as well as a Graduate Diploma in Community Arts and Socially Engaged Practices.
